Give Back to Exceptional Equestrians
Have you met Jake?At nearly 6’3”, Jake stands out in the barn. He can be found doing just about any task that needs to be done. However, most people don’t know the journey that Jake has taken to get to this point.
Jake started with EE at the age of 9, but he took a break after a few years of riding. Two years ago, Jake had grown into a teenager struggling with unmanageable behaviors. No treatment plan or facility had helped. His mom called EE as a last resort, with little hope that anything would change the outcome for her son. Jake started weekly riding sessions, and quickly began to shine. His demeanor changed from frustrated and angry to hopeful and proud. With each success he became more eager to be in an environment where he was able to feel valued. He began to stand up taller, increase muscle strength, improve his focus and become more self-confident. Two years ago, Jake’s life after high school graduation was a complete unknown. This May, he proudly crossed the stage and picked up his diploma, knowing that he has a purpose, what he wants to do is work with horses, and he’s learning the skills to make that happen. |
Every week at Exceptional Equestrians, more than 110 clients receive life-changing benefits from their sessions with one of our amazing horses.
We can’t do it without your help. Client fees cover less than 30 percent of our services and we depend on personal contributions, grants, and fundraisers to make up the difference. While our program is growing, unlike many other organizations, an increase in clients actually increases our need. Would you be willing to help make a difference in the lives of our exceptional clients? The service provided by EE is so much more than a pony ride. “You can’t”, “it’s not safe”, “they’ll never…walk/talk/run/eat” are phrases heard each and every day by our clients and their loved ones. At EE we provide a fun, supportive, safe environment where “Yes, YOU CAN” is heard each and every day. For the last 28 years, Exceptional Equestrians has worked within our community to provide individuals with disabilities the services they need. Thanks to the help of more than 130 volunteers each and every week, EE has expanded our services and now offers Therapeutic Riding, Licensed Occupational and Physical Therapy, Summer Camps, Equine Special Olympics, unmounted ground activities and sessions for individuals with mental health diagnosis. We also provide services to United States Veterans at no cost to the veterans. Every donation makes a difference!
