Volunteer Training

At Exceptional Equestrians, we offer a variety of training opportunities to our volunteers.  Our next training will be:

Tuesday August 27th from 10:00 am to noon or 5:30-7:30 pm

The training will begin with an overall orientation which is geared toward new volunteers but is a helpful refresher for all.  After the orientation, volunteers can choose to attend a number of break-out sessions:

Sidewalking- This is a mandatory session for ALL new volunteers.  During this training, volunteers with take place in mock therapeutic riding session.  They'll learn how to support the client, and what to expect in a typical session.

Leading- This session is most appropriate for a volunteer who have been with the program for at least one session, or who have considerable horse experience.  In this session, we'll learn how to lead the horses in sessions, with information geared to each specific horse.

Horse Handling- This session is most appropriate for volunteers who have been with the program for at least one session or who have considerable horse experience.  Volunteers will learn basics of grooming and tacking horses to prepare them for sessions.

Long-lining- This session is invitation only for current leaders and horse-handlers.
