Job Summary:
Exceptional Equestrians of the Missouri Valley is seeking a dedicated and organized Volunteer Coordinator to oversee the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers for our equine-assisted services The Volunteer Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our programs by engaging and supporting volunteers to deliver high-quality services to our participants. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for equine-assisted services and volunteerism.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Recruitment:
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers, including outreach to local schools, community organizations, and online platforms.
- Maintain volunteer recruitment materials, including brochures, flyers, and online postings.
- Conduct interviews and screenings for potential volunteers to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and values.
2. Volunteer Training and Orientation:
- Develop and conduct orientation sessions for new volunteers, providing an overview of the organization, description of services offered, , safety protocols, and volunteer expectations.
- Coordinate specialized training sessions for volunteers assigned to work with participants with specific needs or disabilities.
- Provide ongoing training and support to volunteers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
3. Volunteer Management:
- Assign volunteers to appropriate roles based on their skills, interests, and availability.
- Maintain volunteer schedules and ensure adequate coverage for equine-assisted activity sessions..
- Regularly communicate with volunteers to provide updates, gather feedback, and address any concerns or issues.
- Recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers through appreciation events, awards, and other forms of recognition.
4. Program Support:
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into equine -assisted services.
- Assist with the coordination of special events, fundraisers, and community outreach initiatives as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between volunteers, staff, participants, and their families to facilitate communication and resolve conflicts or challenges.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in volunteer management, preferably in a non-profit or social service setting is optimal but not required.
- Knowledge of equine- assisted activities and techniques is desirable but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of volunteers, staff, and participants.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with volunteer management software is preferred. Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate volunteer schedules and program activities.

Job Title: Barn Aide
Exceptional Equestrians is currently accepting resumes for Barn Aides. This is a paid position that assists with feeding the horses and preparing them for lessons. Applicants must be at least 16, have reliable transportation and be able to handle the horses without supervision. Shifts available will include mornings and afternoons, evenings and weekends. Ability to work independently is crucial. Schedules are flexible with between 6 to 15 hours available weekly. Pay rate begins at minimum wage.
